What Is a Boho Hippy Home?

Hi guys 🙂 welcome to Boho Hippy Homes. If you’re reading this, thank you. This isn’t my first foray in to the blogging world. Some of you may have read my previous blog, No Labels Living. If you did, thank you again (: That was a place to explore my past and how I ended up where I am now. Because I was surrounded by family who bought into the image obsession that is peddled to us by society as a way to buy mass produced, unique, authenticity. Luckily I’ve made peace with my past and Boho Hippy Homes will be a place for me to explore my true passion, homemaking.

The home I grew up in was void of compassion, the legacy of my parents’ broken homes. I don’t want to focus too much on my past, but I will be peppering my posts with lessons I’ve learned and things to avoid, while focusing on how I’ve learned to overcome them. As the Dead said, “What a long strange trip it’s been” – Truckin’, The grateful Dead. I’ll also be writing about practical tips and the things I’m doing to run my household. So it’ll be a mix of lessons learned and how to turn them into practices that will aid you in pursuit of making a home that feels most like home. Not one that I’m trying to sell you, but rather inspiration on how to find your own.

Some of the areas I’m writing about are;

  • Budgeting: you only have to stumble into $126k worth of debt once to know you’ve made some poor financial choices.
  • Cooking & nutrition: I’ve been blessed to cook with some very talented people (looking at you Sarah and Chen Won:).
  • Design: I truly believe that our built environment has the power to create a sense of safety and ease.
  • Friendships and romantic relationships: because what’s a home without people to share it with.
  • What going green looks like for me: because there’s a lot of green washed information out there and we all need to be doing our due diligence to help the environment.
  • And I’ll also be talking about what self-care looks like for me. That’s something I’ve had to learn the hard way, and isn’t as intuitive as you may think.
