Hi guys, welcome back : ) Today I’m writing about a plan I’m roll it out tonight. I’ve recently been in touch with more friends, and have been wanting to stay connected. But I feel bad texting them for a conversation too often, because I feel like I’m taking up too much of their time since we’re all so busy. So I’ve devised a plan.
The Goodnight Text
I’ve chosen a hand full of people to text each night before going to bed to wish them a happy and healthy sleep, and tell them I appreciate their friendship. This way I’ll be building a tighter bond while also staying in touch more often. The friends I chose are those closest to me and a couple of budding friendships I want to foster.
The reason I want to start this practice is because before now I didn’t know how to foster healthy relationships. I was hanging around with with my drinking buddies, and one of them actually had devious tattooed on his forearm. As Melba would say, “is no bueno”. So I needed to find new people, and then develop those relationships. But where to start?
Luckily, I’ve reconnected with a few old friends, who I am so grateful for (looking at you Jennie, Joe and Anastasia), and have added them to the list, as well as family and friends I’m already talking to regularly. I’m planning on typing up a quick custom message about what they mean to me as a friend or family member, and a goodnight well wishing. Here’s an example:
- Evening mom and dad : ) Thanks for being so supportive of me and all the love 🙂 Good night 🏔️🌙🕯️
And another one might read:
- Hey Nick : ) You’re the best, always were ( : Goodnight 🏔️🌙🕯️
Both have a unique message, to give it an affectionate sentiment, and tailored to its recipient. It also helps add a little bit of love to strengthen my friendships. That way when we look at our texts, we can see a long list of the ways we appreciate each other, since most of the time we’re busy and barely have time to stay connected.
Asking Them to Join In
When I texted them to ask how they felt about the idea, they all agreed with a resounding “yes!” This was heartening, and I felt great about the positive feedback I was getting : )
It also helps me to stay connected with them because for a while I lost contact with just about everybody I knew. I was in an unhealthy place, racking up over $88K in student loans, and more than $17K in credit cards. You’d be amazed how easy it is to stumble into that much debt without realizing it if you don’t know how to budget. Shout out to my friend Jon, who turned me onto Dave Ramsey, a personal finance guru who helps people like me get out of debt.
Good Night Zzzz
So friends, if you’d like to get a better night’s sleep, and build your relationships in a health way, maybe give this a try. I’ll keep you updated on how it’s working for me, and I’d like to hear your experience if you decide to give it a try 😴
Peace, & thanks for reading🏔️🌙🕯️
